Paul Beaupré, Chief Executive Officer

Paul BeauprePaul Beaupré, MD, served as the chief executive officer at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, CA from 2010 to 2016. Dr. Beaupré spent 20 years as a practicing anesthesiologist at Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was extensively involved with medical staff leadership, serving as Chair of the Credentialing Committee, Chief of Staff, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. In 2004, he joined the hospital administration team as Chief Medical Officer, and later assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer. As CEO of Good Samaritan Hospital, Dr. Beaupré launched the Journey to Excellence strategy based on the premise: Take Great Care of Patients and Everything Else Will Take Care of Itself. Under his leadership, Good Samaritan Hospital became nationally recognized for quality measures and patient safety. Dr. Beaupré graduated from University of Pennsylvania Medical School, Philadelphia, PA. He completed medical residencies in Internal Medicine and Anesthesiology at University of California, San Francisco.

John Kren, Vice President Finance and Operations

John KrenJohn J. Kren has served as Chief Financial Officer at St. John's since June 2009, providing the organization with financial performance leadership from both an operational and strategic perspective. Mr. Kren is also responsible for the organization’s Accounting, Revenue Cycle, Internal Audit, and Materials Management functions.

Mr.Kren has served St. John’s Medical Center for eight years where he has held a variety of senior management positions including Finance Director/Controller, Operations Officer, and Compliance Officer. Prior to being recruited to St. John’s Medical Center, Mr. Kren served at Central DuPage Health in Chicago, IL, as an Administrative Resident, followed by roles in Accounting, Finance, and Compliance. He has also had an extensive entrepreneurial background.

Mr. Kren holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama each with dual concentrations in Accountancy and Finance. He also holds a Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of Alabama Birmingham with joint study at the University of Chicago. Mr. Kren is also a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Joan Palmer, Chief Nursing Officer

Joan Palmer

Joan Palmer, MA, RN, is the Chief Nursing Officer of St. John's Medical Center. She studied nursing at Michigan State University, and holds a master's degree from Western Michigan University in Human Resource Development with a Leadership emphasis. Previously, she worked as an independent consultant to provide interim nursing leadership and lead patient care improvement projects at hospitals throughout the country. She has more than 30 years of experience in nursing and nurse management.

Ms. Palmer is responsible for all nursing functions, from inpatient services to surgery, emergency, oncology, and homecare/hospice. She also oversees nursing at the St. John's Medical Center Physician Practices.

Karen Connelly, Chief Communications Officer

Karen Connelly

Karen Connelly is Chief Communications Officer. She provides leadership for St. John's marketing, communications and community relations programs. She serves as media liaison for St. John's Medical Center and affiliated physician clinics.

Before joining St. John's Medical Center, Ms. Connelly was marketing director for the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce and the Jackson Hole Visitors Council lodging tax board.

She earned her BA in Economics at St. Lawrence University and a MBA from Clarkson University. She serves on the board of directors of the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce and the Jackson Hole Community Counseling Center.

John Goettler, St. John's Hospital Foundation President

John Goettler

John Goettler is President of the St. John’s Hospital Foundation. Established in 1999 as a separate non-profit organization, the St. John’s Hospital Foundation’s mission is to broaden the community’s understanding of and support for St. John’s Medical Center.

Prior to joining the Foundation in 2013, John served as the President of Goettler Associates, Inc., a full-service fund-raising consulting firm based in Columbus, Ohio. John holds a BA in Economics from Indiana University, and is a Certified Fund-Raising Executive as issued by the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals.
