St. John’s Medical Center hosts Community Presentation on Organ Donation (April 2, 2012)

On Tuesday, April 10, the Community Health Information (CHI) Center at St. John’s Medical Center will host the community presentation “Saving Lives through Organ Donation” with Gary Loghry, Regional Donation Consultant, Donor Alliance.

Topics will include the Wyoming Donor Registry, how to become an organ donor, dispelling the common myths regarding donation, the importance of donation and advanced directives and how the donation process works in Wyoming.

Each year, the lives of approximately 500,000 Americans are saved through organ and tissue donation. Donor Alliance is the federally-designated, non-profit organ procurement organization and an American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) accredited tissue bank serving Colorado and most of Wyoming. As a recognized leader in facilitating the donation and recovery of transplantable organs and tissues, Donor Alliance’s mission is to save lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation.

The presentation will be held from noon - 1 pm in the Moose/Wapiti Classroom at St. John’s Medical Center. Refreshments will be served. Call the CHI Center at 739-7244 for more information.
