The St. John’s Community Health Fair will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 9am – 1pm at the Snow King Arena. This event promises to be better than ever -- with more than a dozen free health screenings for adults and children, along with family friendly activities including helicopter tours, plenty of health information and complimentary coffee and snacks.
Free screenings at the health fair will include vision, dental, hearing, skin, blood pressure, gait scans, body composition, and nerve scans for adults. In addition, vision, hearing, skin, dental and car seat safety checks will be offered for kids.
Along with the screenings, over 70 educational booths will provide information and interactive activities focused on health topics. From 9am until 1pm, demonstration classes will be offered, including: Zumba, Karate, Tennis, Mountain Fitness, and Hip Hop. Adults and kids should come dressed to participate! In addition to the demonstrations, children’s activities will include the Teddy Bear clinic, fire truck and ambulance tours, car seat safety checks, Wii Dance II and face painting. New this year will be helicopter tours provided by Classic Lifeguard and the Jackson Hole Police department collecting expired, unused, or unwanted prescription or over the counter medications for the national Drug Enforcement Administration prescription drug “Take-Back” initiative.
JH Roasters is once again providing free bottomless organic coffee along with organic and gluten free treats donated by JH Organics. Lunchtime snacks are being provided by El Puente, Chippy’s Kitchen and Catering and St. John's Refuge Grill.
St. John’s is once again offering free prostate screening clinics on May 1st and May 2nd for men over the age of 50 or those over 40 with a family history of the disease. For more information please contact the Community Health Information (CHI) Center at SJMC at 739-7244.
The focus of the 2012 Health Fair is to promote community wellness. As part of this idea, St. John’s offered CT Calcium Scoring exams and blood wellness screenings at greatly reduced rates in early 2012. Please remember to bring your wellness blood screening results with you to the health fair in order to receive a free interpretation with one of our medical providers.
