December 20, 2011
Effective January 1, 2012, St. John’s Medical Center will be a tobacco free campus. As a health care provider, St. John’s is committed to promoting a safe and healthy environment for its employees, patients, residents, volunteers, contractors, students and visitors.
Smoking and/or the use of smokeless tobacco products will be prohibited in all St. John’s Medical Center buildings, company vehicles and upon all grounds and parking areas. This policy will also pertain to all residential properties owned or leased by St. John’s, including The Hitching Post, St. John’s Clinic at Teton Village, St. John’s Family Health and Urgent Care and the St. John’s Professional Office Building. Stations are located at property boundaries for the appropriate disposal of tobacco products prior to entering the hospital campus. “Care Kits” containing hard candy, a coupon for free coffee at the Refuge Grill and information about the Wyoming Quit Tobacco Program will be available at the Community health Information (CHI) Center, Emergency Room Admitting and at the Patient Access Desk for those having a hard time not using tobacco products while on the campus.
Information to assist tobacco users with efforts to quit using tobacco is available at the Community Health Information (CHI) Center located in the main hospital lobby.
