St. John's Medical Center Honors Laboratory Team (April 23, 2012)
ST. JOHN’S MEDICAL CENTER HONORS LABORATORY TEAM DURING NATIONAL MEDICAL LABORATORY PROFESSIONALS WEEK
During National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, April 22-28, 2012, St. John’s Medical Center recognizes its laboratory professionals and celebrates their dedication as crucial members of the health care team, collaborating together to improve patient care and outcomes.
“I salute our outstanding laboratory professionals and all laboratory teams across the nation working together to provide accurate results for patients. You are the cornerstone of diagnosis and an integral part of the larger patient care team, directly contributing to preserving and enhancing patients’ lives,” said Franci Tryka, MD, FCAP, board certified pathologist and medical director of the St. John’s Clinical Laboratory.
During Lab Week 2012, St. John’s Medical Center is celebrating laboratory professionals’ contribution to patient care. Lab Week’s theme, Laboratory Professionals Get Results, recognizes the proactive, collaborative role laboratory professionals play in advancing patient care.
St. John’s will offer a tour of the clinical laboratory for interested community members on Thursday April 26th. Those interested can call the Laboratory at 739-7315 for information and schedule a tour.
Using state-of-the-art technology and instrumentation, laboratory professionals perform and supervise tests that lead to the detection of potential health problems. Early detection saves lives. This is the goal of the annual Health Fair Wellness testing performed by the laboratory professionals at St. Johns.
St. John’s Clinical Laboratory is a College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited laboratory. The CAP, celebrating 50 years as the gold standard in laboratory accreditation, is a medical society serving more than 18,000 physician members and the global laboratory community. It is the world’s largest association composed exclusively of board-certified pathologists and is the worldwide leader in laboratory quality assurance. The College advocates accountable, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care.
