St. John’s Medical Center will hold an orientation for new Lay Chaplains or spiritual care volunteers, Saturday, January 21, 2012, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm in the Boardroom. Lay Chaplains offer compassionate and nurturing spiritual care to the patients, residents, families and staff of St. John’s through a ministry of presence while honoring ethic, cultural, religious and lifestyle diversity.
All hospital volunteers, including Lay Chaplains, must complete a background check, drug screen, TB test, and flu vaccine. A letter of recommendation from a clergy or spiritual community leader is also required.
The orientation will be led by St. John’s Medical Center Volunteer Coordinator Terri Hayden and pastoral leaders Dr. Paul Hayden and Deacon Bill Hill.
