Presented by St. John’s Medical Center Words on Wellness, Marion Nestle, PhD, will be the keynote speaker at FoodSHIFT's People’s Banquet on Friday, October 10 at the Center for the Arts. A professor at New York University and a voice for the sustainable food movement, Dr. Nestle will present “Eat. Drink. Vote: What to Eat, What to Feed Your Kids, and How It Affects Your Community.”
The evening will begin at 5 pm with cocktails and appetizers. From 6:00 to 7:30 pm, Dr. Nestle will make her presentation, which will include a 30-minute question and answer session hosted by FoodSHIFT director Annie Fenn, MD. A book signing by Dr. Nestle will follow from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. The People's Banquet, organized by the Fine Dining Group, will run from 7:30 to 10 pm, featuring area chefs serving their best dishes with ingredients sourced from local farmers, ranchers, brewers, bakers, cheese artisans, and distillers.
Tickets to the entire evening are $40, available at www.shiftjh.org. Tickets to Dr. Nestle’s presentation only are free from St. John’s Wellness department, where copies of Dr. Nestle's most popular books will also be available for loan.
