Dr. April North grew up in rural northern Michigan. She received her medical degree from Michigan State University and completed residency training in family medicine in Syracuse, NY. Following her training, she served as an active duty physician in the Air Force from 2000 to 2004. She moved to Jackson in 2008 after her last duty station in the Pacific Northwest.
April enjoys the variety of cases that urgent care and family medicine offers, allowing her to care for a wide spectrum of patients and conditions. She enjoys the small town environment of Jackson, which lets her get to know her patients on a more personal level and support their healthy lifestyles.
Outside of work, April runs a nonprofit rescue ranch that is home to over 30 animal companions, with a focus on senior/special needs cases. These critters often accompany her on her rounds at St. John’s Living Center, where they provide extra snuggles for residents and staff alike. Additional interests include skiing, hiking, horse riding, and Yahtzee. In the future, April hopes to return to visit Nepal, expand the ranch, and expand her exploration of the back country.
