National Respiratory Care Week is an annual event that recognizes the work
of respiratory therapists (RT’s), the importance of lung health,
and is sponsored by the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC).
St. John’s would like to recognize the following RTs on the hospital staff:
Rick Kuhnley RRT
Rick Starkey CRT
Jim Berrett RRT
John Brodell RRT
Joe Burke RRT
Linda Peak CRT
Reid Phifer RRT
Lisa Campbell CRT
Kathy Grove RRT
Roger Olin RRT
David Richardson RRT
Megan Delmore RRT
People who are lucky enough to take breathing for granted may have never
even heard of a “respiratory therapist.” But for those with
asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, and other
conditions, “RTs,” as they are known for short, are key to
breathing easier. National Respiratory Care Week is a great time for everyone
to learn more about these vital health care professionals.
RTs not only work with physicians to provide care for patients with pulmonary
problems but also spend time educating chronic lung disease patients about
their conditions and the medications used to treat them.
"I am proud to be a part of this great RT team” says Jim Berrett,
Director of Cardiopulmonary and Physician Services at St. John’s
Medical Center. “We have well over 100 years of RT experience and
the diversity of knowledge is truly amazing. Each member of our staff
constantly proves that they are highly dedicated to the care of those
in need of our service," Berrett says.
