St. John's Registered Dietitian Receives Certification as Diabetes Educator (April 2, 2012)
St. John’s Medical Center announced that Catherine Holland, Registered
Dietitian, recently received her National Board Certification as a Diabetes
Educator (NCBDE). To be eligible for NCBDE certification, a current license
and registration as a health professional is required, as well as a minimum
of 1,000 hours of experience as a diabetes educator. Ms. Holland has been
a member of the St. John’s Medical Center wellness and education
team since November 2005 and provides inpatient and outpatient nutrition
counseling as well as diabetes self-management education.
“We are very proud of her achievement” said Catherine Cullinane,
RNC, CDE, program coordinator of Diabetes Education. “We are fortunate
to have someone so dedicated and passionate about providing patient education”
she said. The St. John’s Diabetes Education program is accredited
by the American Diabetes Association.
