St. John's is pleased to announce that Rebecca Heisinger, RN, is the
recent recipient of the Daisy Award, a recognition of compassionate nursing
care awarded quarterly by St. John's Medical Center. Rebecca is a
registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit.
Rebecca was nominated by her patients, who described Rebecca as very attentive
and caring. During the nominating process one patient offered a wonderful
testimonial about how Rebecca made her feel safe in her care. Rebecca
was also recognized for providing support to the families of patients;
one family member credited Rebecca for saving her father's life.
The Daisy Award, an honor established in 1999, allows people to express
their profound gratitude for the work nurses do to help patients and families
every day. St. John's Medical Center began participating in the Daisy
Award program in 2010 to give the community an opportunity to recognize
members of the nursing team at St. John's for their professional skills
and compassionate care. More than 1,000 hospitals across the country participate
in the Daisy Award program. Daisy Award nominations are accepted from
patients, families, fellow nurses, managers and physicians.
Other St. John’s nurses who were recent recipients of the Daisy Award
include: Karen Schroeder, Living Center; Leah Nydam, Family Birth Center;
and Kristen Irvine, Emergency Department. Describing Karen, one Living
Center resident family member said “she’s not only a great
nurse -- she’s part of our family.” In the nomination for
Leah, a patient commented on her skill providing lactation education for
new mothers. The patient who nominated Kristen said he was very impressed
with her personal and professional touch and her enthusiasm for her job.”
Congratulating all the Daisy Award recipients, Chief Nursing Officer Lynn
Kirman, RN, thanked the St. John’s nurses for their compassionate
care. “The outstanding service provided by these nurses is greatly
appreciated by the hospital leadership, as well as the community members
who nominated them,” she said.
Nomination forms are available in the hospital lobby or at
