On Tuesday, March 4, St. John’s Medical Center and the Jackson Hole
Community Counseling Center will co-host the community presentation, “The
Media and Nutrition: What you See and Hear May Harm You” at the
Teton County Library from noon to 1 pm.
This presentation and discussion will help audience members increase their
media literacy, with a focus on being able to detect and understand harmful
media messages and images. Topics include how the media contributes to
struggles with food, weight, and body image; how media and advertising
messages about nutrition can be misleading; and what we can do to limit
the media's negative effects.
The presentation and discussion will be led by community professionals
working in the fields of nutrition and mental health, including Mary Ryan,
MS, RDN, CEDRD, LD, founder of Beyond Broccoli Nutrition Counseling &
Education; and Sarah Long, MS, LPC, co-founder of Thrive.
