St. John's Medical Center Physician Practices announces the addition
of four doctors to the hospital's multi-specialty physician group.
General surgeons Dr. Michael Rosenberg and Dr. Randy Kjorstad recently
joined together to form St. John's Medical Center Surgery, which will
be a unit of St. John's Medical Center Physician Practices. "After
looking at various options, we concluded that creating a general surgery
practice at the hospital was the best way to ensure we can meet the community's
need for elective and emergency surgery care," said St. John's
CEO Lou Hochheiser, MD.
Internists Dr. Mike Menolascino and Dr. Christine Turner will also join
the Physician Practices group and will continue to serve community patients
at their offices in Wilson. "We're pleased to welcome these established
local physicians to the Physician Practices team," said Hochheiser.
Healthcare reform is requiring a new, higher standard in care coordination
among providers and hospitals, Hochheiser explained. In response, many
small independent physician practices are formally affiliating with larger
clinics and hospitals. "We can provide support with quality reporting,
electronic health records, and other Affordable Care Act requirements,"
said Hochheiser. "Strong affiliations can facilitate strategic initiatives,
help control costs, and provide consistency and quality in patient care,
registration, billing, and other areas."
Through its Physician Practices, St. John's Medical Center now provides
the following medical specialties: Family Health; Urgent Care; Audiology
& Hearing Aids; Ear, Nose, Throat & Allergy; Internal Medicine;
Cognitive Health; and General Surgery.
