On Thursday, November 13, St. John's Medical Center physician Martha
Stearn, MD, will present "Caring for Dementia Caregivers" at
senior centers in Marbleton and Pinedale, Wyoming.
Dr. Stearn will give her talk at the Marbleton/Big Piney Senior Center
from 10:00 to 11:00 am and at the Rendezvous Pointe Senior Center in Pinedale
from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
Dr. Stearn's presentation will provide an overview of dementia, the
problems that face professional and lay caregivers, how to prevent burnout
in lay caregivers, ways to deal with behavioral issues in dementia, and
the role of medication for caregivers and dementia patients. After discussing
assessment tools that can be used by providers, each talk will conclude
with a question and answer session.
Attendees to the Pinedale presentation are invited to attend a complementary
lunch, served from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Rendezvous Pointe Senior Center.
