St. John's Medical Center will recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month
on Thursday, October 2 with a "Light the Town Pink" celebration
on the Jackson town square at 5:30 pm. "We hope that the pink lights
on the elk antler arch will serve to remind people throughout October
that early detection saves lives," said event emcee and hospital
trustee Elizabeth Masek.
Attendees will receive cancer awareness giveaways, hear brief remarks,
and participate in a drawing. Prizes include two Weekend Peak Pack passes
to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, a season pass to Snow King, and gift
certificates for free mammograms. Winners of the ski passes will also
receive a free pink Smith ski helmet to wear all season to be an ambassador
for breast cancer awareness. Free tickets to the drawing (limit one per
person) will be available on the square between 5:30 and 6 pm, and entrants
must be present to win.
An after-party, sponsored by Soroptimist of Jackson Hole, will take place
immediately following the ceremony at the Grand Teton Gallery, 130 West Broadway.
