St. John’s Medical Center announces the birth of the First Baby of
the New Year, who arrived at 5:51 am on January 2, 2015. Baby Julio Cesar,
named after his father, is the first son for parents Vianney Tzompa and
Julio Cesar Gurrola, of Jackson. Baby Julio, who was delivered by obstetrician
Shannon Roberts, MD, weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and measured 19 1/2 inches. He
was cared for at St. John’s by pediatrician Keri Wheeler, MD. The
nurses for the labor and delivery were Terry Comer, RN, and Lynne LaRose, RN.
The hospital Auxiliary recognized the birth by coordinating a warm welcome
on behalf of over twenty community businesses and individuals. A large
gift basket presented to the family included toys, baby care items, and
numerous gift certificates to be enjoyed by the proud new parents at local
shops and restaurants. Among the gifts was a four-foot-high Shriner's
teddy bear, donated by Jerry Vasser, who won it in a raffle organized
by the Jackson Hole Shrine Club.
This is the second time the family's newborn has been the First Baby
of the New Year. Their daughter, Fatima Andrea, was born on January 1, 2012.
"First Baby" coordinator for the Auxiliary, Janet Wood, RN, extended
the Auxiliary's appreciation for the business community’s support
of the First Baby program. The Auxiliary coordinates special events and
fundraisers to benefit the patients of St. John’s Medical Center.
