St. John's Medical Center will host an Open House to showcase new facilities
in surgery, obstetrics, and oncology on Monday, February 23 from 4:00
to 5:30 pm in the hospital lobby. "As we complete the final phase
of this important project, this event is an opportunity to thank the community
for its support and patience during planning and construction," said
CEO Lou Hochheiser, MD.
The first major facilities project at St. John's Medical Center in
a decade, the current renovation and expansion was made possible in part
by support from the Specific Purpose Excise Tax (SPET) and community donations
to the St. John's Hospital Foundation. "The expansion helps ensure
that patients can receive care close to home, when possible, by modernizing
and expanding our facilities to respond to patient needs," said director
of community relations Karen Connelly.
The new facilities address patient needs in three vital areas of the hospital:
the Oncology Pavilion, where cancer and infusion services are provided,
offers an increased level of comfort and privacy for patients undergoing
treatment; the Birth Center features an expanded nursery and new patient
rooms for labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care; and the new
and renovated surgery suites are equipped with state-of-the-art integrated
operating room technology and equipment.
The Open House will begin at 4:00 pm with brief remarks by hospital officials,
with a tour of the new facilities immediately following.
