St. John's Medical Center and the Senior Center of Jackson Hole are
pleased to present
Life Well Lived, a series of programs about wellness and other topics aimed at older adults.
"We want to provide information and help encourage conversation about
essential well-being topics that tend to be challenging for individuals
to discuss," said St. John's director of wellness Julia Heemstra.
On Tuesday, March 8, experts from the medical and spiritual fields will
offer help with POLST and Advance Directives paperwork, at the Senior
Center beginning at 12:30 pm. POLST stands for Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining
On Tuesday, March 15, St. John's Medical Center CEO Lou Hochheiser,
MD, St. John's board member Cynthia Hogan, and Judge Nancy Guthrie
will participate on a panel to talk about "Retirement: What's
Next?" The event will be held at 6 pm at Hansen Hall at St. John's
On Tuesday, March 22, Christine Riley, St. John's licensed social
worker, will facilitate a group discussion on the emotional aspects of
retirement. The event will be held at the Senior Center from 5:30 to 6:30
pm. Complimentary soup and salad will be served.
Life Well Lived began in January with a Dinner with a Doc at the Senior Center featuring
cardiologist Ellen Gallant. In February, palliative care expert Dr. Ira
Byock presented "The Four Things that Matter Most" to an audience
of 500 at the Center for the Arts. Also in February, Dr. Jim Little spoke
to a large audience at Teton County Library about improving end-of-life
care with POLST and Advance Directives.
