Dr. Eric Wieman is a general and laparoscopic surgeon at St. John’s
Medical Center in Jackson, WY. Dr. Wieman grew up outside of Louisville,
KY. He received his undergraduate degree in Philosophy of Mathematics
at Macalester College in St. Paul, where he was also pre-med. His interest
in studying abroad as well as a recommendation from a family friend and
Irish surgeon prompted his to attend medical school at University College
Cork, Ireland. During his time there, he took his American Boards, played
for the university soccer team, began the UCC Surgical Society, and met
his wife, Olivia, who was also studying at UCC. After Eric and Olivia
both finished school, they returned to Kansas City. Dr. Wieman completed
his residency and Olivia completed her MPA in Healthcare at UMKC. They
then moved Louisville where he completed a fellowship in Interventional
Endoscopy/ERCP and Pancreaticbiliary Surgery at University of Louisville.
Dr. Wieman began his practice at Baptist Health Floyd, where he worked
St. John’s General Surgery in 2017.
On his free time, Dr. Wieman enjoys to fish with his wife and listen to
bluegrass music. He even plays a little banjo himself! He moved to Jackson
with his wife and dog, Tayto, who has made it onto 2 magazine covers!
