St. John's Medical Center is pleased to announce that Kerry Carr, oncology
nurse practitioner, has been awarded the Outstanding Clinical Leadership
Award by University of Utah Health in Salt Lake City, UT. The award is
presented annually to individuals in the region who exemplify outstanding
leadership and care for the patients they serve.
Carr has been a family nurse practitioner (FNP-BC) in the community for more
than 20 years, seeing patients initially in private practice before joining
St. John's Medical Center seven years ago. She was on the provider
team with St. John's Internal Medicine before becoming board certified
as an advanced oncology nurse practitioner (AOCNP) and focusing her practice
on cancer care.
"Kerry is so deserving of this award, established to recognize providers
who go above and beyond in their field of expertise for their patients,"
said St. John's CEO Paul Beaupre, MD. "With Kerry as our full-time
provider working with Dr. John Ward and the entire oncology nursing and
support team, our program has achieved clinical excellence, added important
programs, services, and equipment, and earned very high patient satisfaction."
St. John's Medical Center is an affiliate of University of Utah Health
and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. The St. John's cancer program recently
expanded with the introduction of brachytherapy, a form of radiation oncology
treatment for certain breast, prostate, skin, and gynecological cancers.
In addition, the cancer center has submitted its application to become
an accredited cancer program with the American College of Surgeons Commission
on Cancer. For more information about
